Our 2022 Project Plans

Hello, neighbors! Phew, I really let Gold Coast Canvas take a back seat in 2021. It was nice to focus on other parts of life (like a new job!) but ultimately, I realize that my biggest hurdle has been my creative slump and I should get back to doing what I love. I knew our renovations would be slow (both for budget reasons and because we were just wanted to relax and enjoy home for a while) but the pace often leaves me frustrated and impatient. I’m hoping that this new intention to celebrate and share even the smallest improvements will spark my creative flow again.

Before we move forward, let’s take a look at what we accomplished in our first year:

We painted (nearly) every room in the house ourselves:

We transformed our fireplace with our most challenging DIY yet [read more here]:

We decorated our living room with some old and new pieces [read more here]:

We transformed our bedroom (more to come still!):

And got all new dining furniture, too! We tried it out in two different spaces. Which one is your favorite?:

And my favorite project: we overhauled our backyard! We hired out the heavy lifting but finished off a lot of the smaller projects ourselves. [Read more here]

2022 Projects

Here’s what we plan to tackle in 2022:

  • Purchase new sectional, chair and ottoman for our TV room and move existing furniture to our empty front room
  • Stain cabinets in guest bathrooms and other small touches for a “mini makeover”
  • Get custom curtains for our bedroom and post my final reveal!
  • Guest bedroom mini-refresh
  • Add wired light fixtures to our front room (with the big window!)
  • Office closet mini makeover
  • Save money for our big kitchen and flooring renovation in 2023 (hopefully, this means that we’ll start picking materials and meeting contractors this year!)
  • Other projects we considered for the year ahead (if budget allows): exterior painting, pool deck resurfacing, new garage doors, new front landscaping

Our original 5-Year renovation plan is laid out here. The timing has already changed quite a bit, but it gives you an idea of everything we’ve got ahead of us!
