5 Tips For Styling Your Entryway

    May 29, 2019 / No Comments

Since there are a million and one ways to style an entryway, I thought I’d work backwards. Here are my answers to five entryway styling challenges: 1 | Not sure where to start? Then layer in your functional items: baskets, key dishes, wall hooks, etc. Finally, add in your decorative touches: photos, candles, books and other decorative objects. 2 | Feeling cluttered? The first purpose of a formal entryway is mainly aesthetic. It’s meant to give you space to enter your home and it sets…

    DIY: No-sew Bed Reupholstering

    January 27, 2019 / 4 Comments

I’m certainly no pro when it comes to reupholstering – which is why this easy, no-sew DIY was perfect for me! For some unknown reason, when we moved in to this house, I bought a dark grey panel bed with a tufted headboard and silver nail-head trim for our guest room. There is nothing wrong with it – but do you see anything else even remotely similar to that style in my house? Nope. Me either. Which is why I always cringed a tiny bit every time I walked in to that room. It just didn’t feel like us. Not wanting to be wasteful, I lived with it for about…

    Our Home: Master Bedroom Tour

    December 29, 2018 / 5 Comments

After two years of curating pieces for our master bedroom, the day is finally here. It’s complete! I am not a patient person. I am a true Millennial in that I love instant gratification. But I know from past mistakes that the most well-designed rooms don’t come together overnight. I exercised some self-restraint and spent almost two years putting this room together. Will it change a bit when we move out of this rental? I’m sure. But I absolutely love it right now. Like, “my-heart-sings-every-time-I-walk-into-the-room” kind of love. So here is the grand tour! Overall, I wanted the room to feel clean, calm and casual with, as always, subtle nods…

Revealing our guest room after making it over as part of the 6 Week One Room Challenge! Disclosure: Sometimes I use affiliate links which could earn me a  small commission if you buy something after clicking one – all of which I will spend on making sure I’m my dog’s favorite human. (Sorry, Brad.) UPDATE! Check out the end of the post for a re-styling of the little desk nook in this room AND the formula for styling right every time. First, remember the before pictures? This room went through several transformations while I tried (and failed) to find a style that really suited me. I think I’ve finally hit…

Disclosure: Sometimes I use affiliate links which could earn me a  small commission if you buy something after clicking one – all of which I will spend on making sure I’m my dog’s favorite human. (Sorry, Brad.) The room is almost wrapped up and it’s time to style! I’m feeling a little guilty because has really been an easy project compared to the amazing renovations other One Room Challenge participants are completing. And full disclosure, I’m traveling through the end of the challenge so I had to face-time Brad to help him style and take pictures for me! He’s pretty cool 😉 Here are two sneak peeks. Check out all…

One Room Challenge: Week 4 Progress

    October 24, 2018 / 4 Comments

For this week’s One Room Challenge update, I’m going over curtains and lighting. Disclosure: Sometimes I use affiliate links which could earn me a  small commission if you buy something after clicking one – all of which I will spend on making sure I’m my dog’s favorite human. (Sorry, Brad.) The room is nearing completion! I’m a leeeettle nervous that my nightstands won’t arrive in time which would really be a bummer but here’s hoping. This week, I’ve chosen and installed the curtains, wall sconce and table lamp so the room really is starting to look dressed up! Curtains I don’t like rules but there are a few curtain guidelines that never…

For this week’s One Room Challenge update, I’m going over my bedding choices, layer by layer! Disclosure: Sometimes I use affiliate links which could earn me a  commission if you buy something after clicking one – all of which I will spend on making sure I’m my dog’s favorite human. (Sorry, Brad.) Once I finished upholstering our bed last week, I was so excited to get it dressed with bedding. I figured once the bed was done, it would serve as the foundation for the room and help keep the rest of my design choices in line.  My existing bedding was pretty much all white. I love keeping it simple…

Week one of the One Room Challenge is done! Today I’m sharing my progress so far. And if you missed the full design plan, check it out at the end of this post. Disclosure: Sometimes I use affiliate links which could earn me a  commission if you buy something after clicking one – all of which I will spend on making sure I’m my dog’s favorite human. (Sorry, Brad.) My first order of business was to tackle the biggest piece in the room, the bed. I’m not sure what look I was going for when I got it (first red flag!) and I could never really get on board with the…

Meet Dani

Hi, I'm Dani and this is my guide to beautiful living. I believe that our homes impact our lives deeply, so I’ve created this corner of the internet to inspire spaces that are both beautiful and meaningful. In everything I design, I leave room for imperfections and for pieces that tell the story of our lives. Nothing is too precious. Everything is meant to be lived in. And the most important thing in our home? The people. Always.
