There are so many different coastal home styles, it's easy for me to get distracted when designing our spaces! Ultimately, we feel most at home in spaces that are laid back and organic with a touch of curated sophistication. Here are some tips for achieving that in your own coastal home.

We may never fully understand why throw pillows are so darn yummy to look at. They are the ultimate eye-candy of decor. They are like shoes. You can never have too many, they can pull together an entire style and it is totally acceptable to use different ones every day. Throw pillows also happen to be a fairly easy and affordable way to add interest and texture to a space. A few well-curated throw pillows can easily transform the feeling of a room and are quick to rotate out when your taste changes. But how do you choose when there are infinite options? I’ve put together the ultimate guide to…

I’m certainly no pro when it comes to reupholstering – which is why this easy, no-sew DIY was perfect for me! For some unknown reason, when we moved in to this house, I bought a dark grey panel bed with a tufted headboard and silver nail-head trim for our guest room. There is nothing wrong with it – but do you see anything else even remotely similar to that style in my house? Nope. Me either. Which is why I always cringed a tiny bit every time I walked in to that room. It just didn’t feel like us. Not wanting to be wasteful, I lived with it for about…

After two years of curating pieces for our master bedroom, the day is finally here. It’s complete! I am not a patient person. I am a true Millennial in that I love instant gratification. But I know from past mistakes that the most well-designed rooms don’t come together overnight. I exercised some self-restraint and spent almost two years putting this room together. Will it change a bit when we move out of this rental? I’m sure. But I absolutely love it right now. Like, “my-heart-sings-every-time-I-walk-into-the-room” kind of love. So here is the grand tour! Overall, I wanted the room to feel clean, calm and casual with, as always, subtle nods…

I use a lot of natural elements in my everyday styling, so it only makes sense that I’d do the same for our Christmas decor! I want it to create a sense of coziness while feeling like a natural extension of what we already have. Natural and neutral decor is all about texture. I love using woods, greens, muted metals and soft chunky knits and I stick with a simple, earthy color palette. Here are some of my favorite pieces to get you started. Click to shop. I’m still waiting for a few of these pieces myself. Stay tuned for a post on our finished decor!

Revealing our guest room after making it over as part of the 6 Week One Room Challenge! Disclosure: Sometimes I use affiliate links which could earn me a small commission if you buy something after clicking one – all of which I will spend on making sure I’m my dog’s favorite human. (Sorry, Brad.) UPDATE! Check out the end of the post for a re-styling of the little desk nook in this room AND the formula for styling right every time. First, remember the before pictures? This room went through several transformations while I tried (and failed) to find a style that really suited me. I think I’ve finally hit…

(Sorry, Brad.) The room is almost wrapped up and it’s time to style! I’m feeling a little guilty because has really been an easy project compared to the amazing renovations other One Room Challenge participants are completing. And full disclosure, I’m traveling through the end of the challenge so I had to face-time Brad to help him style and take pictures for me! He’s pretty cool 😉 Here are two sneak peeks. Check out all…
